The Fire Inspection and Fire Safety Education Program had its first winners of the ULC Fire Inspection and Fire Safety Education Awards last night. Photographed are our winners 3rd year students Marie Wachowiak and Michael Lindner along with me, Program Coordinator Frank Donati and ULC Regulatory Representative Brian McBain.

On Wednesday October 17th, Fanshawe College held the Awards Ceremony for the Faculties of Health, Community Studies & Public Safety. This was the first time that our program was able to provide awards to deserving students. Underwriters Laboratories of Canada, supporters of our Program, sponsor the ULC Fire Inspection and Fire Safety Education Award - an award of $1,500 to a Fire Inspection and Fire Safety Education student entering their third year. The criteria is a greater than 3.3 GPA along with the demonstrated attributes of motivation and dedication to the profession; demonstrating enthusiasm; strong academic skills, and a strong team effort. Students are selected by the Program Coordinator with input on selection from the faculty of the program.

We in the Program are very proud of both Marie and Michael who have throughout their first 2 years consistently excelled in all aspects of the Fire Inspection Program. It is our privilege and pleasure to provide them with the tools and knowledge and skills - so they can develop the abilities to be the best they can in the field of Fire Inspection and Fire Safety Education no matter where their future takes them.

Congratulations to both of you from all of us, your Professors, the Chair and Dean in the Fire Inspection and Fire Education Program and a thank you ULC in supporting our students and the future of fire and life safety.
